This image was photographed in the
rail yard under the 13th street bridge in Columbus Georgia
in July of 2001. It was a bright, hot summer day with
little or no wind. The image was photographed using the
Mamiya RZ67 with the 140mm Macro lens and was hand held.
The exposure was made on Kodak Portra 400 NC negative film.
I recall that it was so hot that I only removed the film
from the ice chest for a couple of hours prior to loading it
in the camera and I immediately sealed the exposed film and
put it back in the ice chest as quickly as possible.
The rail yard was a favorite place for me because it seemed
to hold so many potential images. This is a study in detail, tonal range and color hue. |
