Title: Colorado Dunes

  Notes:

I photographed these dunes mid-afternoon in May of 2002.  I used the RZ-67 with the Mamiya Sekor 50mm ULD wide angle lens (tripod mounted and mirror up).  I stopped the lens down to f/32 and made the exposure on Kodak Portra 160 VC film.  It is difficult to convey the vastness of these great dunes in any one image.  However, I think this composition conveys well the sense of space you get standing on these great dunes.  The wind was fierce -- and the way the sand was blowing on the high points demonstrates this well (note the top of the dune on which the camera is mounted and you can see the sand blowing from left to right.  Keeping the camera steady was a task but it proved worth the effort.  The negative rendered truly a "one of a kind" sort of print.  Soli Deo Gloria!
