This image was photographed early
one morning in the fall and it was quite cold until the sun
got over the trees enough to warm the creek bed. I
recall bemoaning the fact I had not remembered to bring a
heavier jacket. I
used the Toyo 4x5 GX view camera with the Schneider 240
APO-Symmar f/5.6 lens
(tripod mounted) and exposed the image on Kodak Portra 160
VC negative film. I also used a compendium lens hood
to minimize the chance of lens flare. I frequently
struggle with exposure settings in compositions like this
because the range of light intensity is to great from the
extreme highlights to the extreme shadow areas. The color of the
reflections combined with the texture in the water flow
makes this an especially captivating image to me. A
uniquely beautiful scene indeed. |
