This image was taken
August of 2001 in Portland Maine. I had arrived
early that morning when the house was enshrouded in fog.
However, this image was taken later in the morning after
the fog had burned off. In my way of thinking this
sight is a prototype of New England beauty. There
is a huge spread from high light to darkest shadow so
exposure was critical. In addition, I spent a long
time simply lining this shot up in order to keep
vertical lines vertical. The scene was shot with the
Mamiya RZ67 using the 140mm Mamiya Sekor lens (tripod mounted
and cable release) to expose the image on Kodak Portra
160 VC negative film. This particular print seems
to do much to capture the texture, color and lines so
typical of New England. A uniquely beautiful spot
indeed. |
