Title:  Dusk at the Painted Wall

  Notes:

This print was photographed at The Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park in Colorado just prior to nightfall.  The sheer depth of this canyon is remarkable but when that is combined with the mural-like patterns displayed in such huge scale on this virtually perpendicular wall forming the opposite side of the canyon the impact defies description.  This was certainly a technically difficult image to photograph in view of the tremendous scale in light intensity and the complexity of all the various elements in the composition.  However, I believe that it was time well spent after viewing the final image.  I photographed this image with both the Toyo 4x5 GX and the Mamiya RZ67 but after reviewing all the negatives the one seen here proved superior and it was rendered with the RZ67 with the 50mm ULD lens tripod mounted and mirror-up.
