This image was
photographed in a small cross road town in Alabama using
the Mamiya RZ67 Pro II with the 140mm Mamiya Sekor lens
(tripod mounted, mirror-up and cable release). The
film used was Kodak Portra 160VC negative film.
Images like this one prompt many memories for me and
Provoke thoughts of how many interesting characters and
stories were known here when this place was in its "hay
day". These small rural cross roads
communities had their own social fabric, spiritual
posture, economic structure and colorful citizens unique
to each of those settings. These small communities
were duplicated countless times all across the south and
accounted for a way of life whose remnants are fading
rapidly from our view into distant and fading memories. Beauty manifests itself in many ways and
places. |
