This scene was
photographed late in the afternoon in Goose Neck State
Park in Utah using the Mamiya RZ67 Pro II with the 37mm
lens (tripod mounted and mirror-up). The film used was
Kodak Portra 160VC negative film. This place, like so
many others in the west, encompasses a scale which is
difficult to convey in a print. In fact, it is difficult
to fully appreciate even when one stands there and views
the scene. For example, in this print there is a
mountain on the crest of the horizon beyond the San Juan
River snaking through the foreground. It is barely
visible and the drop to the river in the foreground is
roughly 1500 feet. The more I study the print the
smaller and more awe struck I feel. |
