This image was photographed in an
unconventional manner. I had mounted the Mamiya Sekor
500mm APO lens on the RZ67 and was using it on the flats
below the Tetons to photograph
elk and other wild life. However, I noticed the sun
breaking through the clouds on a group of the distant peaks in
the Teton range and removing the camera from the tripod I quickly framed and
exposed the image hand
held on Kodak Portra 400 VC negative film. Hand
holding such a lens is not something I advocate but in this
case I was able to capture the sun breaking on the snow
covered ridges and create a unique print. The scene
was only visible for a very short period of time until the
sun disappeared again behind the clouds. This is a powerful
and majestic place...
