This image was
photographed in the Great Smokey Mountains in the Fall
of 2000 using the Mamiya RZ67 with the Mamiya Sekor 50mm
lens (tripod mounted and mirror-up) on Kodak Portra
160VC negative film. There is a characteristic related
to this composition which has always captured my
attention and that is the number of light interfaces.
There is the perspective under the water's surface
especially in the foreground. Then the light streams
down into the river bed up river and also as it reflects
off the water surface. And finally as it streams through
and back lights the leaves up the stream bed. All these
factors unite to form this composition and make it work. |
