This photograph was
taken mid-morning on an over cast day in a stiff breeze.
There seems to be countless stories related to these old
lighthouses and the lighthouse keepers and their
families and all seem to be an indispensable element in
the tapestry of lore characteristic of New England and
especially so along the coast of Maine.
I count it a privilege to have been able to experience a
taste of this culture. In order to photograph this
scene I used the Mamiya RZ-67 with the Mamiya Sekor 50mm ULD
wide angle lens (mirror up) to expose this image on
Fuji Velvia transparency film. This old light at
Bass Harbor Head is indeed a beautiful and spellbinding
place to behold. |
