This image was
photographed
mid-afternoon using the Mamiya RZ67 with the Mamiya
Sekor 50mm ULD wide angle lens (mirror up and tripod
mounted) on Kodak Portra 160 NC negative film. The
bright sun, brisk wind and strong incoming tide combined
to make this an especially powerful place. The
striated pattern in the rock reminded me of the grain
seen in the trunk of a tree except on a much larger
scale. It did much to enhance the sense of depth
in this print. There
is much history and lore associated with this famous old
light house. I could not help but to stand in awe
when I considered that this old sentinel had with stood
the fury of this north Atlantic ocean for such a long
period of time as it warned passing ships of these
dangerous rocks. |
