This image was photographed
at the break of day in the spring of the year. In my
haste to get here before dawn I forgot my tripod. Most
of my exposures are quite protracted and therefore this was
a grave error. I did not have time to return and get
the tripod and make the sunrise. Once I found the
place where I wanted to photograph from I braced against a
rock formation in a sitting position using the rock to
steady my arms and hands and made a series of exposures.
This print was from one of those exposures. After this
experience my tripod has become like part of my anatomy. I used
the Mamiya RZ67 Pro II with the Mamiya Sekor 37mm lens (hand
held) to expose this scene on Kodak Portra 160VC negative
film. |
