I photographed this image in
the spring of 2005 near Death Valley Junction in California.
When driving out to Death Valley National Park I saw this scene
which appeared to have potential and later returned to
photograph the scene. The long lens compressed the
large distance in the composition and helped convey a sense
of scale. It also isolated the mountain accentuating a
sense of majesty. I used the Mamiya RZ67 and the
Mamiya Sekor 500mm APO telephoto lens to expose the scene on
Kodak Portra 400VC negative film. I am especially fond
of this print. |
