This image was photographed
when I had just begun using medium format equipment and the
compositional make up of this print has always excited me
and continues to do so. I used a Mamiya RB67 with the 50mm
lens to expose this scene on Kodak VPS (type 6010) negative
film. There are those times in a photographer's life when he
is in a place he could have only dreamed of composing in his
mind's eye and the conditions (lighting, weather, etc.) are
ideal as well and he realizes that such a happening is
providential and that he is indeed privileged to be there
... much less to be there with a camera! For me, this was
one of those places. The negative was made long ago and it
has only been in recent times that we have had scanners and
image manipulation software of sufficient quality to
properly render the print with any degree of fidelity. |
