| Title: | Point Imperial, North Rim | ||
| Notes: |
This image was photographed in the spring of 2004 at Point Imperial on the north rim of the Grand Canyon at twilight. I am always reminded whenever photographing scenes like this of the many great photographers who have created such timeless masterpieces when standing in this same place. It was only about ten feet from the spot where I setup to photograph this print that Ansel Adams stood to photograph his classic print of Mount Hayden. We will forever be in debted to the efforts of these great men and their resulting prints which serve to stimulate us to follow in their footsteps. The key element in this print is the sheer scale and intricate detail in the cliffs below. I used the Mamiya RZ67 with the 140mm Sekor lens (tripod mounted and mirror-up) to expose this image on Kodak Portra 160 VC negative film. |
