This image was
photographed early one morning in Portland Maine.
The subject is the Portland Head Light in a very thick
fog. I used the Mamiya RZ67 with the Mamiya Sekor 50mm
lens (tripod mounted and mirror up with hood) to expose
this scene on Kodak Portra 400VC negative film. I recall
how in the thick fog the ship horns on the passing ships
seemed muted by the fog. I also recall how the fog
seemed to isolate the light in the distance.
After having visited this spot it is easy to understand
why so many hold these old lights in such high regard
and why so much lore surrounds them. |
