This image was
photographed near the east gate in Zion Canyon National
Park in Utah in March of 2001 using the Mamiya RZ67 with
the Mamiya Sekor 50mm lens (tripod mounted and
mirror-up) on Kodak Portra 160VC negative film. This
entire region has an almost "other worldly" ambience. In
addition, the sun plays on the cliffs especially early
and late in the day producing some very dramatic
compositions. Because of the light intensity and
direction this composition has especially rich and
saturated colors. The depth of field also plays a large
part in this print in that it "places the viewer into
the image," so to speak, because all the foreground
material is so close and so relevant. |
