This image was photographed in the Redwood National Forest in northern California in May of 2006 on a day with broken clouds and intermittent sun.  I was on an elevated spot and the trunks of the Redwoods in the image were about 30-40 feet above the base of the giant tree.  This perspective allowed me to keep the trunks vertical and undistorted and yet capture the detail in these magnificent trees.  I used the Mamiya RZ67 with the Sekor 140mm lens (tripod mounted and mirror-up) to expose this scene on Kodak Portra 400 VC negative film.
