This print was photographed early one morning in the Jedidiah Smith Redwood State Park in California in May of 2006 on a misty overcast day.  It seemed as if no matter where I moved in this region there were a never ending number of excellent compositions.  This is evidenced by the number of prints from this region in the North West Collection on my web-site.  The rain had stopped just long enough for me to slip into this majestic redwood forest setting which I would best describe as undisturbed or pristine.  The light intensity was quite low but the drops hanging on the lush foliage picked up light like jewels.  This was an impressive place for me.  To make this image I used the Mamiya RZ67 with the 50mm ULD lens (tripod mounted and mirror-up) to expose this image on Kodak Portra 400 VC negative film.
