This image was photographed the
afternoon of 9/3/2001 in the summer from a vantage point above the rapids.
Even though the sun was bright I was in the shadow of the
mountain and the light that came in was filtered through the
trees over hanging the stream. I used the Mamiya RZ-67 with
the 140mm Mamiya Sekor lens mounted on a tripod (mirror up)
to make this long exposure on Kodak Portra 160 NC film.
The long exposure allowed time for the moving water to
"paint" on the film which yields the sense of brush strokes
on the finished print. This is indeed a unique and beautiful
place. |
