This scene was photographed on Porter's
Creek late on a summer day using the Mamiya RZ67 Pro II with
the Mamiya Sekor 50mm ULD f/4.5 lens on Kodak Portra 160VC
negative film. The camera was tripod mounted and
mirror was locked up. On occasion a man simply walks up on a
composition that has been providentially arranged. This was
such a place and time. The stream was full and the
light soft. All of the foliage around the stream was
lush green from the recent rains. This image was photographed just before dark
on an overcast day in the Great Smokey Mountains. I have returned several
times since that day but have never again been able to
capture the ambience I caught in this exposure.
