| Title: | Sliding Stone at Race Track | ||
| Notes: |
This print was photographed in May of 2005 at “Race Track” in Death Valley California in the afternoon on a clear day. Race Track is a dry lakebed in the high country in Death Valley and is not easy to access. The best way I know to describe it is other-worldly. Stones move across the surface of the dry lakebed leaving mysterious tracks but even though there are many theories as to how this happens no one really knows. The environment here is harsh to say the least. However, the place possesses a mysterious and unique beauty which defies description. I used the Toyo 4x5 GX view camera with the Schneider 72mm f/5.6 Super-Angulon XL Wide Angle Lens to expose this image on Kodak Portra 160 VC sheet film. |
