I photographed this image late one afternoon in the spring while in the Eufaula Wildlife Refuge in Alabama.  There is a sea of lily pads here and countless alligators among the lily pads because the area is usually flooded in the fall.  However, in the spring when water level is down it transforms into a sea of yellow flowers.  To make this image I used the Toyo 4x5 GX view camera with the Schneider 72mm XL wide angle lens with Schneider center filter to expose this scene on Kodak Portra 160 VC negative film.
