| Title: | Sprint to the Sea Oconoluftee River | ||
| Notes: |
This print was photographed on a bitter cold winter day in the Great Smokey Mountains on the Oconoluftee River. There was Ice and snow in spots along the stream which contrasted beautifully with the dark areas along the banks of the stream. The most powerful feature in this composition is the interweaving brush stroke effect produced as the stream courses among the stones toward its destination. In order to accentuate the brush stroke effect I used the Toyo 4x5 GX view camera with the Schneider 240mm F5.6 Apo-Symmar stopped down to f/45 and an extended exposure. The long exposure allows the moving water to “paint” on the film creating the brush-like character in the moving water. The film used was Kodak Portra 160 VC negative sheet film. |
