This image was photographed
from Lipan Point on the south rim of the Grand Canyon at
sunset. I used the Toyo GX 4x5 View Camera with the
Schneider 72mm Super Angulon XL f/5.6 lens (with Schneider
center filter) to expose this image on Kodak Portra 160VC
4x5 sheet film. I made just over twenty exposures as
the sun set and in my judgment this was the best of the lot.
Again, as is so often the case with photographs of this region
words are not adequate to depict the scale or grandeur of
the scene before your eyes. For this reason I would be
best served to let the print speak for itself. Soli
