| Title: | The Canyon and The Colorado | ||
| Notes: |
This print was photographed from Navajo Point on the south rim trail of the Grand Canyon in Arizona during the spring of 2004. As I explored this region I noticed this scene in the distance when moving along the trail. From where I was located it was difficult to evaluate because it was so far away and it was definitely inaccessible. I mounted the Mamiya Sekor 500mm APO telephoto on the RZ67 along with the lens hood and mounted the large lens and camera on the tripod. As I evaluated the scene through the large lens it seemed to be very impressive because the large telephoto lens compressed the landscape and accentuated the massive scale and complexity of the canyon system flowing into the Colorado River. I stopped the lens down to f/45 and focused meticulously on the scene to be sure the entire image was sharp and made the exposure on Kodak Portra 160 VC negative film. This image has become on of my favorite prints |
