This image was made very
late one fall afternoon in the Big Bend region of Zion
Canyon National Park. I used the Mamiya RZ67 with the
Mamiya Sekor 500mm APO telephoto lens (tripod mounted and
mirror up) to expose this image on Fuji Velvia transparency
film. The light was much attenuated and the wind made
it difficult to make the camera stable and it was cold.
I had chosen to expose the Velvia at ISO 40 so you can
imagine how long the exposures had to be. This climber was making preparation to spend the night on
this platform prior to continuing his climb the following
day. A powerful and unique print, indeed. |
