Title:   Thin Air and Majesty, Tetons

  Notes:

This image was photographed in spring of 2004 in the Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming.  It was an overcast day and late in the afternoon and I was out on the flats photographing elk which are plentiful in the Tetons.  In the distance I caught sight of the sun breaking primarily on one small flat region high on the side a mountain in the Teton range and it gleamed like the facet of a jewel.  I hastily turned my camera with the long lens already mounted in order to focus on the facet and took what seemed forever to critically focus the long lens and made the exposure.  This print is the result of that exercise.  I used the Mamiya RZ67 with the Mamiya Sekor 500mm APO lens with lens hood attached to make the exposure on Kodak Portra 400 VC negative film.
