| Title: | Three Redwoods | ||
| Notes: |
This print was photographed in late May of 2006 in the Redwood National Park in northern California. These ancient trees are the fastest growing and tallest conifers in North America and at least one has been calculated to have reached 2,200 years of age. If I stop and consider this I am made aware that when our nation was formed some of these great trees were already 2000 years old. Therefore, it is a profound understatement to say that these trees are majestic. I realized a sense of awe as I walked along trails which led through large groves of these elegant giants and have endeavored to convey some of their awe in this image. I hope you are able to sense that import as you view this print. I used the Mamiya RZ67 with the Mamiya Sekor 140mm lens (tripod mounted and mirror-up) to photograph this image on Kodak Portra 400 VC negative film. |
