| Title: | Whispers | ||
| Notes: |
This print was photographed in June of 2006 in the Great Sand Dunes of Colorado National Park. It was a clear day with occasional broken clouds and a persistent wind which has been present almost every time I have visited the dunes. These dunes are always changing and seem as if they go on forever, especially when you are walking across them. The compositional strength of this image is in the “near-far” effect achieved by lowering the camera lens down just above the surface and using hyper-focal distance along with the maximum f-stop. This achieves the maximum depth of field and gives the viewer a presence in the scene. To accomplish this I used the Mamiya RZ67 with the 50mm ULD lens stopped down to f/32 (tripod mounted and mirror-up) to expose this image on Kodak Portra 400 VC. |
