Title:

Woodlands near Chimneys

Notes:

This image was photographed in the Smokey Mountains just as the early morning fog had broken. I recall that it was damp and cold but the conditions worked to magnify the striking color of the fall leaves. I used the Mamiya RZ87 with the Mamiya Sekor 50mm lens (tripod mounted and mirror-up) to expose this scene on Kodak Portra 160VC negative film. I recall thinking that it was as if an artist had taken the most brilliant colors from his oils and brushed them in bold swatches on the dark background between the mountains.
